Is Spirit Airlines safe to fly Now?

Rest assured, they adhere to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, and recent research from Harvard University and other institutions shows that the Spirit Safe Travels combination of washing, face covering specifications, and air filtration makes flying safer than other common activities.  Is Spirit safe to fly now?  At check-in, all guests must complete a Health Acknowledgement. Regardless of local or state laws, federal law requires all passengers on flights and in airports to wear face coverings that comply with CDC guidelines. Spirit has since introduced improved cleaning policies, as well as revised airport and in-flight procedures.

Face Covering Procedures

  • On flights and in airports, federal law requires all passengers to wear face coverings that comply with CDC guidelines.
  • Face masks are required to be worn at the airport, on the jet bridge, and aboard the aircraft. Face coverings can be removed only when eating, drinking, or taking medication; once you've finished eating, drinking, or taking medication, you must immediately reposition your face coverings.
  • All face coverings must have at least two layers of fabric and fit snugly over the nose and mouth, as well as be comfortable under the chin (e.g.Multi-layered cotton face covering with a removable non-medical face mask.)
  • Face shields, open-chin triangle bandanas, face coverings with valves or mesh material, and open-chin triangle bandanas are not considered suitable face coverings. Face shields are permitted to be worn in addition to a face covering, but they are not permitted to be worn in lieu of a face covering.
  • Guests who refuse to comply with their face-covering policy will be barred from flying with Spirit in the future.Children under the age of two are exempt from paying.
  • For a Guest with a disability recognised under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that meets certain requirements, there may be other narrow exceptions.

The fogging

Spirit disinfects their planes with two EPA-approved fogging treatments. The first uses a disinfectant that is both safe and effective against coronaviruses. The second method employs an antimicrobial agent that creates an invisible barrier on all surfaces and destroys bacteria and viruses on contact for 30 days.

Filters (HEPA)

 Is Spirit safe to fly now? Their  entire Airbus fleet is outfitted with cutting-edge high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that catch 99.97 percent of particles and filter the air every 2-3 minutes for pollutants.
